GETTING AROUND

MELBOURNE AIRPORT TRANSFERES

Skybus Super Shuttle

Offers a shuttle bus service to and from Melbourne Airport to Melbourne CBD and city hotels. This service operates 24 hours, 7 days. Buses sun every 10-15 minutes throughout the day and every 30-60 minutes through the evening. This service will take you to and from the Airport and Southern Cross Station (previously called Spencer Street Station).

The hotel shuttle is a complimentary service from Southern Cross Station to your hotel, dropping you at the door of Eastern Town House. This service runs Mon-Fri from 6am to 10pm, and Sat to Sun from 7:30am to 6:30pm.

Return trips to the Airport can be arranged from Eastern Town House one day before departure, just ask reception.

Star Bus Shuttle

Door to Door Airport Transfer. Operates daily from 6am to 8pm.

Hire a car from the Melbourne Airport or let Eastern Town House arrange it for you. Major companies drop off the car and pick them up again from Eastern Town House. Companies include Budget, AVIS, Europcar, Hertz and Thriffty. Tour desk provides directions and handy travel maps of CBD and outer Melbourne.

Meets all arriving and departing flights at Avalon servicing CBD and CBD Hotels. Transfers either to Hotel door or to Southern Cross Station.

Door to Door transfers available to Eastern Town House. Return hotel pick-ups need to be booked 48 hours in advance.

Taxis operate in Melbourne, 24 hours and 7 days a week. For guest's convenience Eastern Town House has a direct dial for taxis. They usually come within 5 minutes. Please ask reception.

City Circle Tram

This burgundy and gold City Circle Tram offers free 30-minute circuit around the city centre, linking major attractions and other transport routes. You can catch it along, Spring, Flinders, Spencer or Latrobe Streets in the city.

If you were after one area of Melbourne that best reflects the city's soul, it could be Brunswick Street, Fitzroy. This cafe and food precinct bordering on the CBD is very much like Melbourne in that it is tolerant and accommodating of all types of people. Lygon Street, Carlton

Fitzroy Gardens

The Fitzroy Gardens are only a 5 minute walk from Eastern Town House. Wander through this beautiful garden and grasp the essence of nature. Visit the famous Cooks' Cottage, and explore the many historic features. Stop for some lunch in their lovely café, dine in the midst of nature.

Royal Botanical Gardens

The home to over 12,000 different species of plants and are a natural sanctuary for native wildlife. Features of the gardens include the Ornamental Lake, the National Herbarium of Victoria, Old Melbourne Observatory, the Australian Rainforest Walk and the Water Conservation Garden. A walk around the entire gardens will take 2 to 3 hours at a medium pace.

During summer the gardens host the Moonlight Cinema, an outdoor cinema with twilight screenings of classic and cult movies.

Open daily from 9am-5.30pm, the centre can provide details about the gardens and guided tours.
